'World's First' Global Vegan Documentary Series Currently In Production

The show is aimed at omnivores as well as vegans

A new five-part vegan documentary series covering the rise of the vegan movement from a global perspective is currently in production, due to be screened in Spring 2019.

Vegan Round the World: The Series will feature stories from all around the world, with the aim of 'completely reshaping the public's view of what it means to be vegan."

According to the Director James Hoot: "Vegans aren't a bunch of groveling hippies standing in the streets with no shoes on. The movement is made up of real, hardworking people who want to bring positive change to a world that desperately needs it."

Well-known

According to the director, the series will include a number of prolific vegan and plant-based figures and organizations.

These include Dr. Michael Greger, Mercy for Animals, Dr. Neal Barnard, Anonymous for the Voiceless, and the Save Movement among others.

But as well as appeal to vegans with these well-known faces, the team wants its audience to appeal to omnivores too, saying: "And to all the non-vegans out there: don't worry. There will be plenty of fun for you too. This isn't a series about vegans for vegans. It's a series about vegans for everyone. If you've ever wondered how on earth they make 'vegan cheese' or what exactly B12 is supposed to do, you've come to the right place."

Funding

In order to help fund the remaining filming for 2018, the team has launched an international crowdfunding campaign.

Rewards on offer include 100 percent organic and sustainable t-shirts, virtual high-fives, early episode release access, and vegan cruise line tickets.

The organization has teamed up with Trees for the Future, a non-profit organization that plants trees in rural communities in Africa, to offset 100 percent of the carbon emissions created by the project.
