Health fads tend to come and go - with the more extreme among them often gaining massive attention.
But often, these fads can go beyond ineffective, and into the realms of being actively dangerous - unsupervised long term water fasting for example, or urine therapy (which includes drinking urine).
In this exclusive video for Plant Based News, PBN Founder Klaus Mitchell delves into the murky underworld of extreme online health tips - and you may find some of the trends shocking. Chocolate as a health food anyone? Or staring at the sun?
Mitchell delves into internet health fads
'I've been on YouTube now for three years," says Mitchell. "I've seen a lot of people come and go and I've seen some crazy things that the internet recommends as healthy.
"These include charcoal cleanses, 30 bananas a day, coconut oil as the answer to everything, or low carb diets. I've seen it all. In this video, we countdown the craziest things the internet told you were healthy."
