Rawligion, the London-based organic food brand, has introduced a UK-market first with a milk drink containing hemp extract.
The new ‘Relax’ contains cashews, dates, coconut oil, vanilla, water, hemp seeds and CBD oil. The key ingredient is Cannabidiol (or CBD), a naturally occurring extract produced from the cannabis plant, which has been associated with several health benefits and has been found to have a positive effect on the symptoms of anxiety.
The drink contains a high purity form of the oil from UK suppliers LoveHemp, who supply direct to trade and consumers online and via a network of High Street retailers. Due to the methods used in the processing and extraction of this CBD oil, the psychoactive ingredient in Cannabis, known as THC, is removed.
LoveHemp is now exploring partnerships with other companies in the food, drink and retail sector. It is estimated that the global CBD industry is worth around $200m and the UK market is expanding rapidly.
