Veganuary's 2018 success shows no sign of slowing down, with more people signing up every day, and numbers reaching 160,000.

The charity, which encourages people to try a vegan diet throughout January, has seen participation increase exponentially since 2017 when around 60,000 people took part.

Now the group has reached out to thank TV presenter Piers Morgan - who it says has helped with sign-ups.

Morgan has blasted Veganuary a number of times over recent weeks - calling the initiative 'hell' and labelling vegans 'plant murderers'.

But the charity's bosses said: "A huge thank you to Piers Morgan for helping us smash our target for Veganuary this year!"

According to Veganuary Co-founder Matthew Glover, the charity saw an increase in sign ups after being insulted by Morgan.

Glover told PBN: "If we had ever agreed with Piers Morgan on anything we might have been concerned but as it is, so many people loathe the man that his tweets have actually made people sign up to take part in Veganuary.

"So we have something to thank him for. He is inadvertently making the world a kinder place."
