Vegan Weightlifter Clarence Kennedy Breaks Personal Record

The 'insanely strong' vegan athlete broke his personal record for the snatch lift
 

Irish vegan weighlifter and YouTuber Clarence Kennedy has broken his personal record (PR) for the snatch lift.

Documenting his progress on YouTube, Kennedy added 2.5kg (~5lb) to his snatch, managing to lift a total of 187.5kg (413.4lb) - a process that took the athlete two years.

Kennedy, who weighs 103 kg (227lb), told industry news outlet BarBend how he managed to break his old PR: "My training has been the same really, I have increased my strength quite a bit, and I've made a load of other PRs that I haven't released on YouTube."

Diet

The vegan sportsman, who BarBend describes as 'one of the strongest vegans in the world', also shared details of his diet with the outlet earlier this fall.

"On average, the man eats about 4,000 calories per day and 150 grams of protein," the site reports.

The athlete reportedly does not include protein powder in his diet, but eats a 1458 calorie breakfast, which includes a bowl of fruit, oatmeal, two cups of chocolate soy milk, and four tablespoons of peanut butter.
