Vegan Vurger Co. Planning 'Global Expansion' After Prince Khaled Investment

The company says it is 'proud and honored'

Khaled's investment will be put towards the brand's expansion plans

Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal has invested in vegan burger restaurant Vurger Co. to support the brand's expansion in London and the Middle East.

Vurger Co., which currently has a site in Shoreditch, became crowdfunding site Crowdcube's fastest ever restaurant raise earlier this year when it raised 166 percent of its target in just 72 hours.

Now Khaled - Founder and CEO of KBW Ventures as well as Investment Director of Plant Based News - has become a key investor in the business, which has major growth plans.

'Proud and honored'

"We are proud and honored to have Prince Khaled as one of our key investors in The Vurger Co.," the company's Co-founder Rachel Hugh told Plant Based News.

"This further confirms and solidifies the position of the brand in the market place, and sets us in such an exciting position to start our global expansion plans!

"We're super grateful for his consistent support and belief in us and the brand."

Vegan passion

"Vurger Co. was set up by people who left the stability of regular work to tackle the challenges of entrepreneurship because they are passionate about veganism," Khaled told Plant Based News.

"This investment is about helping to bring delicious plant-based food to as many people as possible. It is also about supporting hard-working members of the vegan community who do so much to spread a positive message.

"I'm delighted that Rachel [Hugh] is so excited about this partnership - she's an incredibly inspiring woman who has had such success so far co-founding a truly groundbreaking business. There is more to come from Vurger Co."
