Vegan Takes His Mom To Veggie Restaurant: Her Brutal Review Goes Viral

The pair went out to celebrate recent exam results
Despite her post, the woman did enjoy her meal in the end

A mother's rant about a restaurant her vegan son took her to has gone viral.

Dan Nicholson and his mom went out for a meal last week to celebrate his A-level exam results. The pair ate at Liverpool restaurant The Egg Cafe on Newington.

Lentils

Although the eatery is considered one of the best vegetarian ones in the city, Dan's mom was not too keen.

She took to Facebook to write: "Why can’t I have a normal teenage son who enjoys burgers, pizzas and god forbid chicken kebabs?

"Hey ho, vegetarian restaurant and spicy lentils it is. Oh yum. Going to hug a tree next."

Dan shared the post on Twitter. He captioned his tweet: "Took my mum to a veggie cafe yesterday to celebrate results and she was clearly thrilled."

His tweet has received more than 15,000 likes and more than 2,000 retweets.

Meal

According to Dan, his mum actually did enjoy her meal. He tweeted: "She had the bean burger and enjoyed the vegan mayo so not all hope was lost."

Speaking to news outlet Munchies, he added: "My mum does like to post stuff like that on Facebook, she does rate herself as a bit of a joker and this post was hardly an exception.

"She shouldn't have been totally surprised [about my restaurant choice] considering I haven't eaten meat for the best part of a year, but usually we just go to meat-friendly places that have veggie options.

"I personally didn't expect the huge response I've got, which mostly seems to be either 'Serves you right for eating meat' from people that can't understand it's a joke, or (well-deserved) praise for The Egg Cafe."
