Vegan celebrity - and former Jackass star Steve-O has showed off his physique on social media, saying he 'may be old' but is 'healthy as f*ck'.

Posting a topless photo of himself, he wrote: "For my birthday this year, I decided to get in the best shape I’ve ever been in." Returning to the platform the next day, he added: "Another one of my douchey flexing photos from yesterday...#oldbuthealthyasf*ck."

His healthy lifestyle marks a radical departure from battles with alcoholism and cocaine abuse. The MTV star has been sober for more than a decade.

'Hell and back'

His fans were delighted with the images, with one saying: "Let's take a second and appreciate this. Steve has been through hell and back is old [as f*ck] like me and can still rock a [six pack]. "

Another wrote: "Happy Birthday. So proud of you and how far you have come. Keep it up, stay positive."

One simply added: "You look 10 years younger than you did five years ago....impressive!"

Vegan

Steve-O has been a committed vegan for several years, getting involved in activism on numerous ocassions, landing in jail after protesting against marine amusement park SeaWorld in October 2015.

Dwelling on his punishment at the time, Steve-O said: " I just got sentenced to 30 days in LA County jail, and this is what I have to say about it: considering I've become a clean and sober, dog-rescuing vegan, I must say I'm ready to go to jail - not just because it will bring so much attention to the plight of orcas in captivity, but because it's nice to let people know I haven't lost my edge.

"What can I say, I'm a jackass. My whole crane-climbing, fireworks debacle really turned out to be pretty meaningful in the end, too. I mean, if your goal is to make a statement about captivity, you may as well get yourself locked up!"
