Vegan advocate and Senator of New Jersey, Cory Booker, has recently announced he will run for president next year.
Last year, Booker, who would be the first vegan president if successful in his campaign, introduced a bill to try and reduce the number of experiments conducted on monkeys.
In 2017, Booker also announced the Environmental Justice Bill, which strengthens protections for communities of color, low-income communities, and indigenous communities.
In an interview with VegNews, regarding legislature for animals and veganism, Booker said: "I want to continue to be a part of a movement of folk who are fighting against corporate interests that are undermining the public good and the public welfare.
"So, I’m going to continue supporting bills that are about public health, whether it is pumping in all these antibiotics into animals that are literally threatening the safety of Americans."
In a speech about veganism at VegFest, Booker said: "The vegan consciousness is growing in our country and all those people, regardless of your diet, you are conscious of the environment, conscious of justice for animals, against cruelty to animals, conscious of your health."
Booker also posts pro-vegan content on his Instagram, to an audience of over 588,000. He captioned the photo below: "If we want to pass on a sustainable healthy world to the next generation, we need to have started yesterday. Today's not too late."
