An organic, vegan butter has launched in 170 Sainsbury's across the UK.

The product - called Naturli Vegan Spreadable - is produced by Naturli Foods - whose vegan burgers and mince are sold in the meat aisle of the supermarket.

It contains almonds, coconut, shea and rapeseed.

According to Naturli' Foods: "We once thought that spreadable could only be made from milk, but by utilising nature's finest ingredients - coconut, rapeseed, shea, and almonds - we've made Naturli Vegan Spreadable.

"It's 100 percent plant-based with the exact right flavor. Use it to butter your bread for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some food simply isn't the same without butter.

"That's why we’ve come up with an alternative for all you non-dairy eaters. Melt it over hot sweet corn, use it for baking, in your pasta or for frying, butter your bread with it and add it to sauces or vegetables."

The new spread is just one of the products Sainsbury's has recently added to its shelves in a bid to capitalize on the growing vegan, vegetarian, and flexitarian market.

In the last few weeks, the retail giant has launched in excess of 20 new meat-free products, including Natuali' Foods' vegan burger and mince items.

Meat-Free Product Development Manager Rachel Mathews said: "We have a dedicated team here at Sainsbury’s working on how we diversify our range of vegetarian and vegan products, across many different supermarket aisles – from exclusive chilled products through to Love Veg! ready meals and even quick options for on the go."
