Veganism has been a top trend on Twitter in January 2019, according to new data.
In addition, more than 200,000 global users have the words vegan/'plant based' in their Twitter bio.
"New year resolutions are in full swing and this year especially, we've seen 'veganuary' has been one of number one trends on Twitter in January 2019," a spokesperson told Plant Based News.
"Veganism is clearly part of people's New Year's Resolutions: every year we see a big jump from December volume to January volume. This year, the growth is 70 percent (comparing median daily Tweets).
"A clear trend of 2018, there were nearly 20 million Tweets around veganism in 2018, and January has seen a 70 percent leap in conversation on the subject. This comes as no surprise following the sold-out success of Greggs' vegan sausage roll, and Piers Morgan's 'vegan victim' Tweets."
