Revolutionary Vegan Cookery School Aims To Change The Way We Eat

The school is raising money to support its ongoing work

The community kitchen wants to teach people how to cook healthy plant-based meals

Made In Hackney is an award-winning eco-community kitchen and cookery school in east London.

Since its launch in 2012, it has won acclaim for its revolutionary work, offering healthy eating focused cookery and food growing classes to groups in need including young people leaving care, low income families, people with long term health problems, recovering addicts and people with learning difficulties.

The cookery school has a local, seasonal, organic (when possible), 100 percent plant-based food policy - which makes it pretty unique.

Crowdfunding

Now Made In Hackney has launched a crowdfunding campaign aiming to raise £85,000. 

The campaign has been created to secure its future and enable the charity to continue to enable 10,000 people to lead healthier, happier lives over the next five years.

The crowdfunder has been supported by food and business community across London with great rewards on offer for donations. 

Incentives include meals for two in London restaurants, foraging walks, cookery classes, supper club tickets, and divine well-being retreats.

Fruit and veggies are better for your health - and the planet

Speaking on the launch of the crowdfunder Made In Hackney founder Sarah Bentley, says: "We teach people how to cook and eat food that is not just good for their health – but also the health of the planet. 

"Everyone knows we need to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and less processed foods, sugar and meat – but most people don’t know where to start. 

"Many don’t even know how to cook from scratch at all and especially how to prepare vegetables in an exciting, tasty way. 

"That’s where we come in."
