Vegan celebrity Alicia Silverstone has appeared nude on a major anti-wool billboard.

The board in Boston, which was created by vegan charity PETA, says: "Keep 2019 Kind. Leave Wool Behind."

Speaking about the cruelty of wool, Silverstone said: "It's just so fast, the shearing process. [The sheep are] cut. They're harmed. They get very seriously wounded, and there's no care for them when they're wounded. It's just, 'move on to the next'."

PETA has brought widespread attention to the cruelty of the wool industry in recent times, via its 11 undercover investigations of 99 sheep shearing sheds on four continents - including sheds in the UK.

"[The investigations] have all revealed that sheep are systemically beaten, kicked, punched, and mutilated in the wool industry," said PETA in a statement. "Impatient workers have been caught punching, kicking, and stomping on sheep, some of whom die from the abuse. When the animals are no longer profitable to the wool industry, they're slaughtered."

"Why not make that leap?" added Silverstone. "Say, 'I'm never going to buy wool again'."

The billboard is located at 113 Porter St. (near the intersection with Chelsea Street) in Boston and will be up for four weeks. Plant Based News is currently sourcing an image of the anti-wool billboard. Apologies that there is none available for use at this stage.
