Trader Joe's Launches Vegan Queso Dip In Time For Christmas

American grocery store, Trader Joe's, has added an organic dairy-free, and cashew fiesta dip to its festive range, responding to the skyrocketing demand for vegan food

US grocer Trader Joe's 39's has released a vegan, oil- and soy-free queso dip made out of cashews, carrots, onions, potatoes, green chilli peppers, and spices.

The Cashew Fiesta Dip, which retails at $3.49, is now available in all Trader Joe's stores in time for Christmas.

Skyrocketing sales

Trader Joe's has released a slew of plant-based products in tandem with growing demand, including ranch dip, carrot cake spread, and jalapeño almond dip.

According to data from the Plant Based Foods Association , US sales of vegan food have skyrocketed by more than 20 percent over the last year topping $3.3 billion.

Rapid growth

Sales of plant-based cheeses specifically have rapidly grown at 43 percent, by $124 million during this period.

"The plant-based foods industry has gone from being a relatively niche market to fully mainstream," Michele Simon, Executive Director of the Plant Based Foods Association, said speaking about this data.

"Plant-based meat and dairy alternatives are not just for vegetarians or vegans anymore; now even mainstream consumers are enjoying these delicious and innovative options in the market today

"The new data confirms what we are hearing and seeing every day from our members. Sales are up, investment is increasing, and new jobs are being created in the plant-based foods industry."
