Top vegan chef Gaz Oakley - aka Avant Garde Vegan - says social media is behind the burgeoning plant-based movement.
Speaking to The Independent, Oakley called platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest 'great for inspiration'.
Th vegan chef, author and social media sensation, has more than 440,000 YouTube subscribers, and almost quarter of a million followers on Instagram.
He told the paper: "Things like YouTube are amazing. I can film a recipe and post it out to people from all around the world. Instagram particularly has helped turn everyone into a foodie. All you have to do is go to a restaurant and see people snapping pictures of their food. And I just think that platform is great to show off food. People get really creative.
"Social media has also made the world smaller which is great particularly for the vegan community because I'm able to reach people in all parts of the world and show them how simple and how great vegan food can be.
"So even if you’re not a foodie, you can go on Instagram, Pinterest or YouTube, find people like myself and other amazing vegan influencers out there, or just general foodies who are putting up exciting food."
PBN interviews Gaz Oakley.
Last month Oakley revealed major plans during a podcast interview with PBN Founder Robbie Lockie. He said he plans to open a restaurant - adding that it is one of the questions he is asked most.
"I've said when I hit a million subscribers I'll announce where I'm opening my first restaurant," he told PBN. "I'm in no rush to do that because I understand...what it takes to run a restaurant.
"But to be able to feed people and spread my activism through food, and people eating it, would be a dream."
