VegFest London returns to Olympia this year, taking place on October 27-28.

The event, which is expected to attract thousands, will feature a Vegan Food Village with 25 global caterers, more than 275 exhibitors, talks, cookery demos, a Kids' area, and more.

Plant Based News Co-founder Robbie Lockie will give a talk on effective advocacy, while top journalist Chas Newkey-Burden discuss veganism and the media during an 'in conversation with'-style interview with PBN Editor Maria Chiorando.

Veganism and the media

Newkey-Burden, who has authored more than 40 books, is best-known in the vegan community for his article Dairy is scary. The public are waking up to the darkest part of farming. Published by The Guardian in 2017, the article was one of the publisher's most-read pieces that year.

He will tackle the topic of 'Veganism in the media - an enduring trend or a passing fad?' at 2pm on October 27.

"I'm always excited to take part in VegFest, which has become such an inspiring fixture on the vegan calendar, mirroring Tim's [Barford - VegFest Founder] own iconic stature amid our flock," he told PBN.

"I can't wait to discuss my experiences writing about veganism in the mainstream media, from the delights to the death threats!"

Vegan activism

PBN Co-founder Robbie Lockie will give his talk at 4pm on October 27 in the Vegan Activists' Hub. It is titled 'How do we become effective at vegan advocacy?'.

"It is always an honor and pleasure to be invited to VegFest," Lockie said. "Founder Tim Barford is a pioneer in the movement, and always brings together a great array of speakers.

"Activism and campaigning is not only my passion, it's what I am fortunate enough to do every day, and I have picked up some useful information along the way. I'm looking forward to sharing it with like-minded people at this amazing event."
