Candy company, Swizzels, has removed animal products from all of its chew bars to make them suitable for vegans.

Chewy bars including Vimto, Refreshers, Sour Refreshers, DrumStick, and DrumStick Bubblegum are amongst the newly announced vegan products.

'We don't want anyone to miss out'

According to Vegan Food & Living, Swizzels said: "All our chew bars big and small are now vegetarian and vegan-friendly! There are 7.8 million people avoiding meat products in the UK and we don’t want anyone to miss out.

"To advertise this the packaging of all our chew bars will be updated to be clearly flashed with the Vegan icon."

In 2017, Swizzels launched the Refreshers and Drumstick Choos, its first sharing bags suitable for vegans - some of the company's classic sweets also contain no animal products.

Swizzels website reads: "At Swizzels we have been creating yummy sweets for 90 years and the great news is that many of our classic and much love sweets are suitable for vegetarians and vegans! Love Hearts, Rainbow Drops, Fizzers & Parma Violets, the list goes on!"
