Activists who witnessed the event said the animals were 'terrified'

A man has been filmed kicking a screaming pig into a slaughterhouse in Sheffield - animal rights activists from the Save Movement shared the footage online.

The Save Movement bears witness to the slaughter of pigs, cows, chickens, sheep and other farmed animals on their way to slaughter. It aims to raise awareness about the plight of farmed animals, and hopes the footage and photographs collected will encourage people to go vegan.

The Movement has around 330 groups across the Canada, the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, Europe, Asia, Africa and Central and South America.

According to a witness, who was at the event with Sheffield Animal Save: "10 vigil attendees had been bearing witness at Bramall & Son slaughterhouse in Sheffield for three hours and already witnessed the arrival of 10 to 12 trucks carrying pigs, sheep and cows for slaughter when the incident occurred.

"A slaughterhouse worker was caught forcing a crying pig from a transportation vehicle by kicking him or her with his feet and legs.

"The animal was clearly in a great deal of distress."

Jordan Heart, who witnessed the incident, added: "We heard loud screams coming from animals in a truck at the yard. We rushed into the yard and and filmed the scenes. The workers were forcing and abusing the terrified animals off the truck.”

Save Movement activists later said they saw parts of the animals they’d bore witness to being thrown into a bin outside.

Heart said: "We were disgusted by the actions of the slaughterhouse workers and farmers, we were shocked how they could kick and abuse the animals, especially since farmers claim to care about their animals so much.

Plant Based News has tried to contact Bramall & Son for comment.

This week Save Movement activists are taking part in a global 5-Days-Of-Save, in which activists bear witness for 12 hours every day from Monday to Friday.
