Pret To 'Turbo Charge' Development Of Vegan & Veggie Stores After Buying Eat

The company's chief executive said the purpose of the deal - which saw Pret buy around 90 outlets of its smaller rival, is to 'serve a growing demand of vegetarian and vegan customers who want delicious, high-quality food and drink options'

Pret a Manger has confirmed it will scale up its vegan and veggie offering after acquiring smaller rival Eat.

Pret has around 400 outlets in the UK - four of which are vegan and veggie-only stores - called Veggie Pret. Three are based in London and one in Manchester.

Now company boss Clive Schlee has suggested many of the 90-odd Eat stores it has acquired will be used to sell meat-free food.

"The purpose of this deal is to serve a growing demand of vegetarian and vegan customers who want delicious, high-quality food and drink options," Pret Chief Executive, Clive Schlee, said

"We have been developing the Veggie Pret concept for over two years and we now have four hugely successful shops across London and Manchester.

"The acquisition of the EAT estate is a wonderful opportunity to turbocharge the development of Veggie Pret and put significant resources behind it."
