Prada’s leather sales plummet

Luxury fashion brand reports a 22% reduction in leather sales, while other brands switch to more ethical materials.

Fashion brand Prada have reported a 22% reduction in sales of its leather items for the first half of 2016. The Italian-based luxury fashion company is facing decreased sales of 15% Worldwide. Prada recently released two leather handbags – Prada Cahier and Miu Miu Dahlia – but still failed to capture consumer interest. Meanwhile, brands such as like Aritzia, Armani, Vagabond and Hayden-Hartnett are opting for more ethical materials, and textile producers are innovatively creating animal-free leather from kombucha, mushrooms and pineapples.
