Pennsylvania will become home to a 100 per cent plant-based store next month.
The shop, which will open in Boyertown, will supply a range of food and home items.
It will be run by husband and wife team Loriann Wade and Michael Martinez, who also run an eatery called the Firefly Café. The store will be next door.
Wade told one local newspaper: "There are not many stores like this in the country." She believes it may be the only store of its kind in the state.
She added: "We liken it to a vegan general store."
Foods including artisan cheeses, meat substitutes, frozen and refrigerated food and household items, such as soap and cleaning items will be on offer. Gluten-free and soy-free food also will be available in the front of the shop.
There will be a kitchen in the back of the store. It will be used to prepare foods for their café next door.
In addition, local cooks making artisanal produce will be able to hire the space - which will already be used for cookery classes.
Wade said the pair have worked extremely hard to make a success of the business, which opened in 2016.
