All Tesla Car Seats Are Now Made From Vegan Leather

The leading 'green' car company removed the option from its website
The company hasn't made an explicit announcement about the seats

Leading eco-car manufacturer Tesla has eliminated leather seats - at the moment, the company is only offering vegan interiors.

The brand started offering vegan leather seats as an option in all of its models at the end of 2016. Just the steering wheel still comes with a standard leather-wrapped finish, although customers have long have able to request a plant-based alternative for some time.

Tesla has not explicitly stated that all interiors will be synthetic on its configuration page on its site, but leather isn't listed as an option.

Many see this move as a positive one: the move to non-animal interiors ties in with with Tesla's mission statement, which is 'to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy'.

Success

This move away from leather - which is traditionally seens as a 'luxury' fabric should not hamper Tesla's trajectory.

The Financial Times recently reported on Tesla's progress - giving a fairly optimistic progress when discussing the company's upcoming Model 3.

It said: "It will be more than just another car launch. If [CEO Elon] Musk is right, the Model 3 will become the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle, transforming the automotive industry forever.

"And if sales meet the company’s hopes, it will finally set the chronically money-losing Tesla on the path to becoming a sustainable business that justifies, at least in part, its heady stock market valuation."
