New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia has ditched all animal products and adopted a raw vegan diet, according to reports.

Sabathia, 37,  has changed his diet in an attempt to improve his performance and recovery time.

According to the player the most important element in this is 'eating right'

Weight

Sabathia says he is not aiming to lose weight, adding: "I want to stay the same weight but I want to be a lot stronger."

While he plans to stick to a plant-based diet, he has admitted he could be tempted by a rack of ribs when he visits Kansas City.

But he says he wants the diet to keep his playing as well as younger team members, adding: "This is a young team and it keeps me young.

"I know if I can stay healthy and stay on the field, I can put up the numbers and good things will happen."
