A German company has developed a vegan ingredient for dairy-free products made from a plant called lupin.
Lupin is a mostly perennial flowering plant, whose seeds' fibers are used by the award-winning company for its own 'Luve' line of dairy-free products.
The plant has been used in food for centuries - and now Prolupin separates various fractions from its seeds for the raw material.
According to Prolupin, the plant ingredient can improve the final product of some food; it can stabilize fat in the final products, and enhance the emulsion capacity; it can also bind water and reduce losses of water.
Luve's series of plant-based products, which are free from GMO, include milks, yogurts, and ice creams - and even pasta.
