Music legend Moby has been vegan for 30 years ago today - and he's shared a photo of the kitten who inspired him to make the transition.
Taking to Instagram, the star wrote: "It was 30 years ago today, Thanksgiving 1987, that I became a vegan.
"And Tucker, the tiny kitten pictured here, was the one who turned me from a McDonald's eating suburban kid into a vegan."
He writes: "When I was 10 years old and found Tucker at the dump in Darien, Connecticut he was so little his eyes hadn't even opened. My mom and I, with the help of George the dachshund, took care of Tucker and he grew up to be the happiest, healthiest cat I'd ever known.I loved Tucker, and all of our rescued animals, unconditionally.
"But I was a suburban kid, so I also loved hamburgers and hot dogs and pepperoni pizza.
"I embodied that strange human paradox: to love animals and also eat them."
According to the musician, he had an 'epiphany' while he was playing with Tucker one day, when he was 19 and Tucker was 10.
He writes: "In an instant I realized: Tucker has two eyes, and a central nervous system, and an amazingly rich emotional life and a deep desire to avoid pain.
"And I realized that every animal with two eyes and a central nervous system has a rich emotional life and a deep desire to avoid pain.
"In that instant I decided that just as I would never do anything to harm Tucker, or any of our rescued animals, I also would never do anything to harm any animal, anywhere.
"So thanks to Tucker I became a vegetarian (that was 1984), and then a few years later, in 1987, a vegan.
"Thank you, Tucker (currently in cat heaven), and Happy Thanksgiving."
