A new book looking at how humans can - and must - move towards an animal-free food system is now available.
Reese is the Research Director and Co-founder of nonprofit think tank Sentience Institute. He has written for Vox, Salon, and Quartz, and he has presented his research to academic and nonprofit audiences in more than 20 countries.
"The book lays out a roadmap for humanity's upcoming transition to an animal-free food system based on technology like slaughter-free meat," Reese said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.
"The book builds on the research done by Sentience Institute, such as studying the successes and failures of industries like GMOs and the accomplishments of historical social movements like British antislavery. Ultimately I argue animal farming will probably end by 2100."
Reese speaks about a vegan future
"Though cruel treatment of animals is indefensible, many thoughtful people have been indifferent to the movement to safeguard animal interests out of the vague sense that it is oppressively moralistic or romantic or ascetic," bestselling author Steven Pinker said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.
"Jacy Reese's book is none of these things: it places the issue of factory farming in the context of human progress, and presents compelling arguments on how we should deal with it today."
