Reality TV giant, Kim Kardashian, has credited her iconic figure to 'being a vegan'.

The star, who became widely known through reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, was asked on an Instagram video whether she had removed a rib to achieve her slim waist.

"No, I honestly think being a vegan now helped," Kim replied.

This isn't the first time the beauty mogul has spoken about veganism on social media. Earlier this year, the celebrity revealed she refrains from eating animal products when she's at home - regularly posting vegan dishes such as smoothie bowls to her 143 million followers.

Faux-fur

Despite being slammed in the past for wearing animal-skins, Kim referred to faux-fur as her 'new thing' last year - after she shared images of a vegan coat gifted by fashion house Givenchy.

The star was also praised by fellow vegan Lucy Watson for recreating faux-fur versions of her favorite coats.

Animal-rights organization, PETA, also applauded Kim's commitment to cruelty-free fashion, stating: "LOVE it. Thank you for making compassionate changes that save animals and showing the world that #FurFree styles are the future!"

Vegan controversy

Kim's vegan announcement has been met with controversy, with some questioning whether the star meant plant-based rather than vegan.

Twitter user Sabina Fox said: "Vegans: go vegan
Kim Kardashian: I'm vegan now
Vegans: not you

"She has enormous reach and influence. Whatever your opinion of her, this is a good thing."
