Vegan activist, James Warden, was allegedly 'starved' in jail for 48 hours after Perth's Hakea Prison failed to cater to his animal-free diet.
Warden, from animal-rights organization Direct Action Everywhere (DxE), was charged with trespassing, stealing, and aggravated burglary after he was accused of stealing a dead piglet and a calf from two farms.
Police have since seized the calf activists had named Theo and returned him to Benger veal farm - condemning him to slaughter.
"Some of them just said 'go and eat some meat' and that kind of thing," Warden told 7News.
"The experience I had was nowhere near as bad as what animals are going through - they are suffering daily, and I only had to put up with 48 hours in custody."
Magistrate Joe Randazzo said: "You are dicing with your freedom," and described the event as a 'strong prosecution case', NewsAu reports.
Warden is currently on bail, where he must report to police weekly and stay away from any farms. He is to attend Mandurah Magistrates Court on May 3.
