Health food chain Holland & Barrett is planning to launch 500 plant-based products in its upcoming all-vegan store, which it is planning to open  'in the not too distant future'.

While store bosses are unable to commit to a timescale, they have invited companies to get in touch in a bid to get their products listed. The outlet currently stocks a number of vegan products, but largely in the chiller section.

According to a report by NutraIngredients.com, buyers are looking to expand the vegan offering 'into new categories like chilled & frozen, snacking, sports nutrition and on-the-go drinks'.

Emma Cockerill, Holland & Barrett's Director of Product Development, said the company is 'open to working with brands of all sizes' - and will look at listing products either online, in bigger stores, or across all stores.

She added: "We've long been committed to a plant-based lifestyle even offering members of the Vegan Society a discount in store. And with the growing amount of vegans in the UK comes the need for an expanded range of great products for them to choose from.

"We know from our suppliers that vegan foods taste better than ever and are available in many more categories than just the chiller."

Holland & Barrett has invited interested brands to email newbusiness@hollandandbarrett.com with a sales proposal and product information.
