The vegan sausage roll will be available in 950 selected Greggs outlets across the UK.
The bakery revealed to PBN that the Greggs vegan sausage roll has been 'designed to mirror some of the sausage roll's classic features, including 96 layers of light and crisp puff pastry, but instead is made with a bespoke Quorn filling'.
The launch follows a petition launched last January by vegan charity PETA, calling on Greggs to create a plant-based version of its classic grab-and-go pastry snack.
"More people than ever are clamoring for healthy vegan options from their favorite on-the-go eateries," PETA Director of Vegan Corporate Projects, Dawn Carr, said at the time.
"PETA is calling on Greggs to heed this growing demand, add a vegan sausage roll to the menu, and watch the cruelty-free treats fly off the shelves."

Greggs did pay heed to the demand - leading to tomorrow's launch of its vegan sausage roll.
"Like many food retailers we have seen increasing demand for vegetarian and vegan products," Roger Whiteside, chief executive at Greggs, said in a statement sent to Plant Based News.
"We have been trying to develop a vegan version of our famous sausage roll for some time now. It has not been easy but our taste panel customers all love this one, so we have decided to launch it as our contribution to Veganuary."
The Vegan Sausage Roll will be on sale in 950 Greggs shops across the country from January 3, costing from £1.
