A fox hunter and ex-jockey has been filmed screaming obscenities at vegan activists during a hunt this weekend.

Former Grand National winner Ryan Mania used ableist and obscene language during his vitriolic rant. Screaming at anti-hunt activists, he called them 'a bunch of f*****g retards'.

When one activist blew a hunting horn, he said: "Do you want that rammed down your f*****g throat."

Video

The hysterical outburst was captured on video by activist Kate Louise Powell, who shared it on Facebook.

The video was also shared by The Sun newspaper.

Following the publication of the video, Powell revealed to PBN that she came in for further online abuse, with hundreds commenting on the video she shared.

'Angry comments'

She told PBN: "After The Scottish Sun ran a story on the incident with Ryan Mania, my original post was inundated with hundreds angry comments from both pro-hunt and anti-hunt people.

"It would be unfair to pretend that there haven't been aggressive comments coming from the anti-hunt side as well, but a lot of their anger stems from being outraged by Ryan's inappropriate and dangerous behaviour in the video.

"The anger on the side of pro-hunt people seems to stem from wanting to defend this outdated, cruel and unnecessary activity, to the point of wishing violence upon those who are protesting it."

Violence

She added: "As the angry comments escalated, it got to the point where a hare courser starting wishing sexual violence on me and another 'anti' who commented - it seemed to become less and less about the content of the video and more about the lingering tension between those who hunt animals and those who oppose it.

"Once again, I recognise that there are also plenty of nasty comments from the anti-hunting side as well, and I don't particularly condone it as it doesn't help our cause or save the foxes.

"I understand why sabs make pro-hunt people angry and as much as I disagree with what they do, I appreciate why they would feel the need to defend something that their lives revolve around, but found it laughable that they were trying to defend Ryan's decision to spew ableist slurs and use his horse to push sabs against a vehicle."

Local police attended the scene, but said ' no criminality was established'.
