Vegan entrepreneur, athlete, and advocate Heather Mills has invested in a plant-based business that makes healthy shakes.

The investment - in plant-powered nutrition specialists Fit Delis - is Mills' second under VBites Ventures - her private, direct-investment portfolio aimed at helping early-stage plant-based businesses (including, but not limited to those in the food, clothing, cosmetics and toiletry sectors). Mills founded the portfolio in a bid to support

Heather is dismayed by the plight suffered by so many innovative and promising plant-based brands, in particular with the soaring costs of property and the real scarcity of 100% vegan manufacturing operations.  To address this, VBites Ventures has invested heavily in its own completely plant-based factories to allow it to assist its investments in achieving their fullest potential but retaining their small-company feel and, most importantly, retaining the majority shareholding for the ambitious founders who have started them.

Fit Delis products are currently available to order online, but the brand has plans to start distributing its products in stores soon.

'Delighted'

Speaking exclusively to Plant-Based News, founders Thomas Forster and Sam Friskey said they were 'delighted' to be partnering with VBites Ventures and Heather Mills.

They added that they are looking forward to leveraging VBites' extensive network, 100 percent-vegan manufacturing facilities and pioneering food-science team to help spread the Fit Delis message worldwide.

Speaking about the product, they said they have created 'the cleanest, all-natural supplement range which is both great-tasting and packed full of healthy properties'.

Athlete

Speaking at the investment closing ceremony hosted at bankers Coutts & Co. in London, vegan investor Heather Mills said: "This is a really exciting investment for me.  As a gold-medal-winning vegan athlete and the holder of several world records, I know how hard it is to get the right mix of nutrition and protein from plant-based sources.

"It is possible, but it has always required relentless dedication and planning.

"What the Fit Delis team is doing to help bring 100 percent vegan nutrition to everybody is really worthwhile, and I am delighted to be helping them on their journey to bring vegan nutrition to everyone in the world."

VBites Ventures will be announcing further investments in the coming weeks.
