The egg replacement market is forecast to expand in the upcoming years

The egg subsitute market is expected to see a boost between now and 2023, due to the growing number of consumers who follow a plant-based diet, says a new report.

Consumers are increasingly aware about the health and ethical issues related to egg consumption - which will prompt the egg replacement market to see a significant growth during this period.

Companies including U.S.-based Puratos and Archer Daniels Midland Company have been listed in the report as key players in the market.

According to the report by Market Research Future: "Consumers following vegan diets prefer products comprising plant-based natural ingredients due to various health and ethical issues.

"This factor is estimated to support the egg replacement sales in the global market."

Some of the egg replacement ingredients include: soy-based products, starch, yeast extract, and wheat gluten, among others.
