A leading doctor has discussed the 'carnivore' diet during the popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

Cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn took part in a debate about the paleo diet last week, facing off against Chris Kresser.

During the debate, host Joe Rogan asked for his guests' opinions on the carnivore diet, saying: "I am baffled by this carnivore diet. I'm baffled by how many people are clinging to it as a panacea."

Vitamin C

"It's way preliminary for the bandwagon that's growing," said Dr. Joel Kahn, who said he's interested in finding out more about how the diet impacts people.

"The big puzzle is...one of the things that plant-based eaters...get way more than anyone else is Vitamin C, which builds healthy walls, builds healthy immune systems...Vitamin C has so many benefits to the body.

"Where are these people - where every chart says meat has no Vitamin C - getting it? Are they eating raw meat which may contain it? Are they eating organ meat?"
