Campaign Launched To Get Vegan Domino's Pizza In The USA

Animal Rights charity PETA has launched a campaign aimed at bringing Domino's new vegan pizza from Australia to the USA.

According to a spokesperson: "As the vegan movement advances toward world domination, Domino’s Australia has heard the opinions of the people and will now offer dairy-free cheese at over 600 locations nationwide.

"And it’s not just any vegan cheese - it’s the delicious, undisputed champion of dairy-free cheesy goodness, 2015 PETA Company of the Year Follow Your Heart vegan cheese."

Demand

Responding to an overwhelming demand to its customer survey on vegan cheese in November last year, it was announced that Australian outlets would be able to replace dairy cheese on all its pizzas for a limited time for an extra $2.95.

Domino’s also unveiled three dedicated vegan pizzas: the Vegan Avocado Veg, the Vegan Spicy Trio and the Vegan Margherita, and confirmed that all its sauces and bases are vegan-friendly.

'Blown away'

"We were blown away by the response to the survey and for this product in general," said Domino’s CEO Australia and New Zealand, Nick Knight. 

"We pride ourselves on our ‘people-powered pizza’ mantra and listen to what our customers want. 

"The popularity of, and demand for, vegan products has increased considerably over the years so it’s great we are now able to offer this high quality, non-GMO, plant-based and preservative-free vegan cheese."

'Jealous'

According to PETA - US vegans need to get involved to bring the product to them.

A spokesperson said: "Everyone should be happy for our brothers and sisters Down Under...but we can’t help but feel a bit jealous.

"More than 40 other pizza chains in the U.S. now carry vegan cheese, and many offer toppings such as vegan sausage, Gardein’s veggie crumbles, meat-free pepperoni, tofu, and tempeh. Domino’s has no excuse not to offer similar items.

"The company has shown that it will listen to its customers, so let’s make some noise!"
