A US dairy group has branded vegan activists 'triggered terrorists' in a newsletter about how to ward off the threat of the animal rights contingent.

According to the newsletter from Western United Dairymen, which is dated November 15, the organization 'knows there will be increasing days of action coming', and has provided a list of protocols animal ag facilities can put in place 'to prepare'.

These include putting up 'no trespassing signs' at every entrance and having a designated 'activist agent' working during every shift.

The newsletter was shared online by Matt Johnson, Press Coordinator at Direct Action Everywhere, a global animal advocacy network.

"We've managed to be both 'triggered' and 'terrorists' in the watchful eyes of animal ag," wrote Johnson, who does a weekly round-up of DxE's appearances in the news.

Speaking on video, he added: "[This] industry response is something we've come accustomed to, though this one is a little more alarmist than usual...When they throw these claims out there...they do this because it has worked for them historically."

'Vegan challenge'

The meat industry predicted it would face issues from the growing vegan lobby last year, when a leading animal ag figure named animal activism one of the six major challenges to overcome in 2018.

Writing for agribusiness news site Feedstuffs, Chuck Jolley, President of a food marketing firm whose clients include Cattlenetwork, said activists are 'still out there; smarter, well-financed, more sophisticated and deeply determined to end animal agriculture'.

Jolley also offered tips to animal agriculture businesses to avoid being exposed for bad practices, and calls activist organizations like Mercy for Animals and Direct Action Everywhere 'demons'.
