Are You An 'Aggressive Vegan'? You Might Be Turning People Off Ditching Meat

A recent survey looked at why meat eaters haven't gone veggie

So-called 'aggressive' vegans could be putting omnivores off ditching the animal products and switching to a plant-based lifestyle, according to a new survey.

More than 2,300 people were quizzed for the survey. They were asked about their current diets and their attitudes towards becoming veggie or vegan.

While a huge two thirds of the Brits questioned said they had considered making the change over the last year, there were some factors stopping them from doing it.

Reasons

The five top reasons given for not becoming vegan (or vegetarian) included 'liking the taste of meat too much' (81 per cent), 'meat substitutes being too expensive' (58 per cent), worries about cooking for the whole family (50 per cent) and worries that the rest of the family wouldn't ditch animal products too (41 per cent).

Clocking in with 26 per cent was the reason that the 'attitude of certain vegetarians/vegans has put me off'.

A quarter (25 per cent) of respondents claimed they had been 'lectured' about their diets, which hadn't inspired them to change.

Researchers for VoucherCodesPro asked the 26 per cent who were put off by 'aggressive' veggies what exactly was off-putting. 37 per cent said the veggies 'were quite aggressive to those eating meat [and] consider their way of eating to be the only way’.
