Vegan Meat Startup Sells Out 48 Hours After Launch

the 'plant-based butcher' which launched out of Halifax, Nova Scotia
earlier this month sold out of its mock meat boxes within its first 48 hours of business.

The
newly-launched company is the brain child of former Top Chef contestant Lauren
Marshall and her friend Brandon Levesque.

The company
aims to make mock meats, sauces, and cheeses from easily recognizable ingredients that
are minimally processed and actually good for you.

Their
innovative plant-based products can be purchased as a bimonthly pickup box, in 'gluten
free' or 'basic' packages.

Products

The company currently offers such items as a 'Crem Chez', 'Montreal Spiced Bacon', and 'Popcorn
Chickfu' - all given names to match those of the animal products they
replicate.

The range currently consists of ten products, the ingredients of which are listed
on the company website.

'Took off'

Real Fake Meats sold its first round of boxes in advance, needing the funds to get business up and running.

Marshall said: "Lucky for us it took off even more than we could have imagined."

According the the culinary pro, the company is reportedly even popular with non vegans.

"What I'm seeing now is not necessarily that the people who are coming to me are all vegans or vegetarian, but that we all have somebody in our lives that could use this service."
