In an interview with PA, Oatly's Chief Executive Toni Petersson said: "We're planning for more factories and we're looking at the UK because it's such a big market for us. I think we should have something here."
Petersson also described how the Swedish brand has been 'tapping into this whole global movement, this ideology of making this world better' - stating that the 'movement has grown really, really strong in the last two years'.
He also argued oats are more environmentally-friendly than soy and almond - two popular ingredients used to create dairy-free milk products, adding: "You can grow [oats] anywhere in the world, in every continent, and it's in a sustainable way."
Last year, Oatly spoke to Plant Based News to discuss the unanticipated demand for its products in the UK.
"Although we've seen a growth in demand over the last few years, I don't think anyone could have anticipated quite how much demand has grown in the UK!
"UK consumers are becoming increasingly aware of what they consume, and are more switched on when it comes to sustainable food production and consumption."
