A leading plant-based cardiologist outlines some of the ways animal foods can harm human health in this Plant Based News video.
Dr. Danielle Belardo, who uses traditional medicine as well as lifestyle modification and a plant based diet to prevent heart disease, is a member of the American College of Cardiology Nutrition and Lifestyle Sub Committee.
Dr. Belardo spoke to PBN Co-founder Robbie Lockie for this interview, which was originally recorded for the PBN Podcast.
"I can't thank enough my residency and training because I truly learned that there can be cultural barriers to going plant-based, there can be financial barriers to going plant-based," she said.
"The most important thing as a physician, or as a health care provider, is just to support your patients. Recognize their barriers and help them through it. Help them to figure out what's the best way they can live their healthiest life, and how you can help them achieve it, and believe in them.
"That's one thing I think in healthcare that we don't have enough of. We don't believe in our patients' dedication to lifestyle modification and really it is there."
