The co-director of Cowspiracy and What the Health is currently working on what promises to be one of 2018's must-see vegan movies.
Keegan Kuhn's new film Running for Good is the official Fiona Oakes documentary.
The film follows Oakes - a veteran of more than 50 marathons - in her attempt not only to set a new global record in endurance racing, but to compete in the 'toughest footrace on earth' the Marathon Des Sables, 250km race through the Sahara Desert.
Oakes was featured in PBN's Top 100 Most Influential Vegans - and with her list of accomplishments, it's easy to see why.
According to Great Vegan Athletes: "Fiona works as a retained firefighter, a job which means she is often on call and needs to be ready to react quickly.
"She also works long hours on a sanctuary she runs almost singlehandedly, on which she cares for 400 animals including horses, pigs, sheep and dogs.
"She also fundraises for the sanctuary, for which the food bill is over £5000 per month, and for other animal issues. Typical working days start before dawn and end around 8pm on her sanctuary in Essex, UK."
According to Running For Good's production team: "Fiona Oakes has made a name for herself as an endurance runner apart from the rest.
"She is the fastest woman in the world to run a marathon on all seven continents and the north pole in both cumulative and elapsed time.
"She has competed internationally in more than 50 marathons and set 5 marathon course records around the globe, including The Antarctic Ice Marathon. In 2015 Fiona ran six official marathons in six days on six continents.
"Fiona’s achievements are made even more astounding due to the fact she was told at age 14 that she would never walk properly, let alone ever run, after undergoing more than 17 radical knee surgeries which ultimately led to having her entire right kneecap removed."
According to Oakes' team: "Proof positive that a vegan diet can take you from a child to a champion, Fiona Oakes, vegan for over 40 years, her whole physiology built on plant protein from age 6, powers herself to three Guinness world records in the marathon and across the Sahara desert."
