Leigh Venus is a North East-based writer, animal rights advocate, and culture and heritage professional. As a Junior Fellow at Sentient Media, he writes about animal ethics, climate crisis and the future of food to advance public discourse on animal welfare and the looming ecological crisis.
Passionate about advancing public awareness of veganism and animal issues, he has delivered talks on veganism at Newcastle University, Durham University, Vegan Campout and several vegan festivals. He is the United Kingdom Regional Organiser for Anonymous for the Voiceless, and works with several animal advocacy organisations, including Animal Save Movement, Animal Equality, Animal Rebellion and Free Vegan Cookout.
Alongside this work, Leigh leads on the long-term strategic development of a museum for an independent charitable trust, is a trustee of a contemporary dance company, and Community Leader of the Minimalists Newcastle group.
